Job Role
Role Overview
•Responsible for the inspection, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing of Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs), and associated hydraulic control systems.
•Specialized in CLA-VAL automatic control valves and related pilot systems used in water networks and pumping stations.
•Ensure safe and reliable operation of PRV systems while maintaining system pressure stability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.

Areas of Responsibility
Operations & Maintenance
•Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and overhauling activities for PRVs and associated hydraulic control valves.
•Operate and maintain CLA-VAL automatic control valves, monitor upstream and downstream pressures and verify valve performance during operation.
•Conduct valve dismantling, disassembly, internal inspection, diaphragm replacement, pilot cleaning, spring adjustment, seat replacement, and reassembly activities.
•Diagnose and troubleshoot pressure fluctuations, leakage, cavitation, unstable downstream pressure, pilot malfunction, and flow irregularities.
•Calibrate and adjust pilot systems and pressure settings according to operational requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
•Read and interpret P&IDs, hydraulic schematics, valve drawings, operation manuals, and technical documentation.
•Perform field testing and functional testing for PRVs after maintenance or installation.
•Coordinate with operations teams during shutdowns, commissioning, and system restoration activities.
•Assist in commissioning and startup activities for newly installed PRV systems.
•Carry out emergency breakdown maintenance and respond to urgent operational failures.

Process Improvement
•Support implementation of maintenance best practices and standard operating procedures.
•Ensure all maintenance reports, inspection checklists, and calibration records are properly documented and archived.
•Participate in root cause analysis for repeated failures or abnormal valve behavior.

Health, Safety & Quality
•Comply with all HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and site safety regulations.
•Ensure safe handling of pressurized systems and hydraulic equipment.
•Follow manufacturer standards and company quality procedures during maintenance and operation activities.
•Maintain housekeeping standards in workshops, valve chambers, pumping stations, and work areas.
•Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and technical training sessions.

Teamwork & Coordination
•Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, operators, and contractors during maintenance and operational activities.
•Provide technical support and practical troubleshooting assistance to junior technicians.
•Communicate operational abnormalities and maintenance findings clearly to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications
Degree
•Technical Diploma / Industrial Technical Institute in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulics, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent technical discipline.

Years of Experience
•3–5 years of practical experience in maintenance and operation of PRVs and hydraulic control valves.
•Proven hands-on experience with CLA-VAL products and systems is highly preferred.
Special Technical Skills

Strong practical experience in:
oCLA-VAL automatic control valves
oHydraulic pilot systems
oPressure reducing and sustaining systems
oValve maintenance and overhaul techniques
oWater distribution and pumping systems

•Ability to use pressure gauges, calibration tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
•Good understanding of hydraulic principles, pressure control logic, and flow behavior.
•Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and manuals.
•Knowledge of valve troubleshooting techniques and root cause analysis.
•Familiarity with safety procedures related to pressurized systems.
