Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre-Trip:
1. Study proper route survey and coordinate with the person who conducted the route survey.
2. Arrange and carry proper safety tools for the trip including PPE, Cones, Flags, revolving lights, barricading tapes, safety reflective jacket, whistle, etc.
3. Check lashing/tire, Spares, etc.
4. Check the power pack and report if there are any leakages.
5. Obtain information for bypasses.
6. Obtain proper information of road, route surveys ahead of the visit.
7. Obtain documentation of trip including T.P
8. Coordinate (if required) with SEC / Authorities electrical shutdown.

During Operations
1. Ensure the safety of the load.
2. Always remain behind of trailer
3. Give clearance to driver for passing under overhead bridge/gantries, cables, etc.
4. Observe the driver while passing through narrow culverts, and up hills. The escort should also make a pre-visit of culverts, up hills by stopping the driver/load at a safe place.
5. Routinely check of lashing of cargo, tire pressure, visual Inspection of Trailer
6. Operate Supervision / Steering hydraulics with the guidance of the driver as & when required.
7. Hang 50% of axles during empty axle returning.
8. Escort vehicle must be driven with a revolving light. Truck/trailer and over-dimensional cargo must be visible by installing revolving lights.

While Parked:
1. Check power pack leaking.
2. Ensure proper parking; put cons alongside parking area.
3. Ensure the safety of the load.
4. Check lashing, Tyres, spares, etc.

At site:
- To check and make sure the ground is firm/ and in order.
- Check proper ground compaction.
- Check if there are any obstacles.
- Turning radius No. of turnings at the site.
- Make proper timber gripping and take confirmation from the supervisor.
- Assist your crew members and ensure full support to the supervisor.
- Routine Job Assignment in Terminal (while not on the trip):
- Assist in cleaning.
- Assist in keeping equipment clean.
- Assist in maintaining safety devices, fire extinguishers, etc.
- Assist in inspection of equipment as per checklist.
- Follow the instruction of the Terminal Supervisor.
