Key Responsibilities
Design fire alarm systems according to project requirements, local fire codes, and international standards (such as NFPA, BS, or local authority requirements).
Prepare system layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Install and commission fire alarm control panels, detectors, manual call points, sounders, and related equipment.
Program and configure fire alarm control panels.
Perform testing, commissioning, and acceptance procedures before system handover.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and inspections.
Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems and associated equipment.
Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, electrical standards, and building codes.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities during project execution.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, test reports, and service documentation.
Train clients or facility personnel on the operation of fire alarm systems.
Respond to emergency service calls and provide technical support when required.
Recommend system upgrades or replacements based on equipment condition and code changes.
Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills
Knowledge of fire alarm systems from manufacturers such as Honeywell, Siemens, Notifier, Edwards, Bosch, Apollo, Hochiki, or Simplex.
Understanding of fire detection principles and life safety systems.
Ability to read electrical drawings and technical specifications.
Familiarity with fire codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72, BS 5839, local civil defense regulations).
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Experience with commissioning and programming fire alarm panels.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency in technical report writing and documentation.
Typical Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering field.
Experience in fire alarm installation, testing, commissioning, or maintenance.
Relevant certifications (such as NFPA or manufacturer-specific training) are often preferred.
Knowledge of health, safety, and quality management procedures.
