Role Overview
We are hiring a GCP Cloud Engineer to support Integrated Dawiyat’s migration and transformation to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The engineer will design, implement, and operate cloud infrastructure that underpins our telecom, fiber, data center, and connectivity services, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available platforms aligned with Saudi regulatory requirements and Vision 2030 initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement GCP landing zone architecture (projects, folders, IAM, networking, billing) for Dawiyat environments (production, staging, lab).
Build, operate, and optimize GCP infrastructure using services such as Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and managed databases (e.g., Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner) as appropriate.
Design and manage VPCs, VPNs, Cloud Interconnect, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity between Dawiyat data centers and GCP.
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (or similar) for repeatable, auditable deployments, including network, security, and application stacks.
Set up and maintain observability: Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, alerting, dashboards, and SLOs for critical services supporting telecom and fiber offerings.
Work with security and compliance teams to implement IAM, service accounts, least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management, and guardrails aligned with KSA regulations and Dawiyat policies.
Collaborate with application, NOC, and network teams to migrate workloads from on‑prem data centers to GCP using appropriate migration strategies (lift‑and‑shift, replatform, refactor).
Support deployment of APIs and microservices that integrate with Dawiyat’s fiber and connectivity platforms, ensuring reliability and performance SLAs.
Contribute to cost optimization and capacity planning for GCP usage across business units.
Document architectures, runbooks, and standards; mentor internal teams on GCP best practices and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
3–5+ years of hands-on experience with GCP infrastructure engineering (or cloud engineering with at least 2 years focused on GCP).
Strong experience with Linux administration and command‑line operations.
Strong understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity (VPN, Interconnect).
Proficiency with Terraform (or equivalent IaC) and CI/CD tooling (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
Experience with containers (Docker) and Kubernetes (GKE) for running microservices and network-facing applications.
Solid understanding of GCP IAM, security controls, and cloud security best practices.
Ability to script in Python or Bash for automation and operations tooling.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (network, data center, applications, security).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
GCP Professional Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect certification.
Experience in telecom, ISP, data center, or large-scale network infrastructure environments, ideally within Saudi Arabia or GCC.
Familiarity with FTTH, GPON, IP/MPLS, and large fiber backbone environments.
Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana) in addition to native GCP tools.
Experience with security and compliance frameworks relevant to KSA (e.g., NCA ECC, CITC requirements) and enterprise governance.
Exposure to multi-cloud or migration from other platforms (on‑prem, AWS, Azure) to GCP.
