We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer Specialist (Fire Protection) to join our consulting team. You will oversee the design, review, and construction supervision of advanced firefighting and fire alarm systems for large-scale construction projects, ensuring 100% compliance with local civil defense regulations and international safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design Review & Engineering:
Evaluate and approve firefighting, fire suppression (e.g., sprinkler, foam, gas), and fire alarm schematic designs submitted by contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, NFPA codes, and local authority requirements.
Technical Compliance: Ensure all proposed MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) layouts integrate flawlessly with the overall architectural and structural design.Site Supervision & Quality Control:
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure the contractor's installation of piping, pumps, panels, and detection devices matches the approved drawings and highest industry standards.Testing & Commissioning: Witness and certify all pressure tests, flow tests, and system commissioning to verify systems operate reliably in emergency scenarios.Project Management: Review contractor submittals, material approvals, and requests for information (RFIs). Represent the consultant in client and contractor meetings.Defect Management: Identify, document, and track the rectification of any non-compliance issues or snags during construction phases.Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.Experience: Minimum of 6–8 years of experience in fire protection engineering, specifically acting on behalf of the engineering consultant or owner's representative on construction projects.Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent (e.g., NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist - CFPS is highly preferred). In Saudi Arabia, Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership and Civil Defense approval are mandatory.Technical Skills: Deep expertise in hydraulic calculations, fire pump sizing, hazard classification, and advanced addressable fire alarm systems.Software Proficiency: Mastery of AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software such as SAIS.
