Project:
New Runway and Automatic Control Tower at Cairo international Airport, Egypt
Duties:
Tender Management & Supervision of the New Runway and Control Tower at Cairo International Airport
Including taxiways connected to the existing runway with a total paved area of about 1,100,000m2. The project also includes service roads, drainage system, infrastructure utilities , concrete works , airfield marking and fencing , electrical works (power supply and no break system , airfield lighting, and control and monitoring system) , new fire station substation (architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing and HVAC works), and Nav. Aids and Meteorological equipment (supply , installation and testing of equipment associated civil electrical works. The main Air Traffic Control Tower is 110 m high with an adjacent 2-storey technical building for navigational and radar system, power plant, HVAC chillers yard, etc. in addition to a control gate and parking area with service roads, landscaping, Infrastructure.
Highlights:
Made sure that any activity offered for his inspection has an approved shop drawing, method statement (MS), Quality Control procedure (QCP) AND Inspection and Test plan (ITP)
Carried out all planned site inspections as per the intervention points marked on the relevant ITP
Site inspection: carried out vide an official inspection and Test Request (ITR), submitted by the Contractor through the proper channels
Inspection status shall be recorded in the ITR and relevant check sheet as per the approved QCP. Verified outstanding items prior to closing the ITR
Verified with independent Testing Laboratory (ITL) that all relevant test resulted related to specific ITR meets the project requirements
Ensured relevant Shop Drawing, Materials used, MS, QCP, and ITP covered all specification requirements - reported any non-conformance in writing to the Construction Manager and the Senior Discipline Engineer
Closely monitored site activities to ensure quality of work in compliance with contract requirements, good construction practice, and shop drawing
Ensured all materials used complied with the approved Material Approval Request (MAR)
Ensured contractor’s personnel used the latest edition of the approved shop drawings, MS, QCP, and ITP as per the project master index
Closely monitored concrete pours and inspected continuously concrete materials delivered to site: ensured compliance with QA/QC procedures, and that all concrete tests were carried out as per contract requirements

Maintenance Contract Qs/T/113 – Abdalli Road Maintenance, comprising the execution of asphalt deep patches, asphalt milling and various asphalt pavement works (type 3 and PMS)
Maintenance contract QS/T/114 – construction of Four Roundabouts in AL Naeem Area
Contract RA/96 (Ministry of public works) – Egaila project Block 2. Execution of storm water drainage main pipeline and gullies, sewerage main pipeline and house connections, water supply pipeline and valve chambers, telephone manholes and hand holes, electrical cable ducts. Earthworks, kerbstone works and various asphalt pavement works
